You may also fill out our web form here or download a Friendship House Referral Form and email it to email@example.com or fax it (302) 652-8641 to have a Friendship House case manager reach out to you.
If you are in between a permanent place to live, are currently homeless, unsure where to go to get help for any crisis, our Empowerment Day Centers are where you want to start. We have several locations:
Newark Empowerment Center: 69 E. Main St, Newark DE; (302) 544-0166 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm weekdays
Women’s Day Center: 720 N. Orange St, Wilmington DE; (302) 652-8033 6:30 am – 2:45 pm weekdays (closes at noon W&F)
Men’s Day Center: 226 N. Walnut St, Wilmington DE (302) 652-8278 5:30 am – 12:00 pm weekdays
Middletown Empowerment Center: 44 W. Main Street, Middletown DE (302) 464-1191 8:30 am – 11:30 am Tuesdays/ Thursdays
Services offered at our Empowerment and Day Centers include:
-Access to a phone and a fax machine
-For the men’s center lockers, and for the women’s center a shower
-Computer labs at all locations
-A job readiness program where you will receive help on resume writing and job searches
-Help getting replacement birth certificates and identification
-Access to clothing
-Help with food or shelter referrals
-Bus tickets to verifiable appointments
-Assistance with medical prescription
-Access to rest rooms
For Clothing referrals, please contact one of the day centers. They will work directly with our Clothing Bank of Delaware.
We do not have emergency shelter. Referrals to our Transitional Housing program can call (302) 428-0151. (To qualify for housing services: Positive recommendation from a residential recovery program and involvement in a daily program (employment or education).)
